Ten Years Running Ten Years running is a collection of 93 poems written by Mary Johnsen and cover a range of experiences she's endured over the years. The poetry in this book is well written and relay the full range of the human condition. Since this poetry is about the author's life experiences most readers will easily find events that mirror their own, I certainly did. This book is also interesting as it provides an excellent example of a poet growing in style and ability. From those first words she etches into paper Mary Johnsen begins to grow. In this respect alone the book is well worth reading. Although the book is laid out well it does have some issues, most minor. But the most obvious of these is the complete lack of an index. And without one it's difficult, to say the least, to find that favorite in a book of 93 poems. Other than this there aren't any real issues with the book and I feel it's worth the purchase price to own a copy. Gloomwing Review by David W. Hoffman Pages: 108 |
