First Love, True
Love? The reality of love, of finding love, can be a challenging and turbulent experience. First Love, True Love? follows the relationship between Bob and the young woman he falls in love with. The story opens in the mid 60's with the main character telling of his life in high school, and of his love for music. In fact music is plays such a powerful roll in this book that it's referenced frequently. Reading First Love, True Love? took me back to my own experiences in high school, and of memories of those early relationships. The story then moves past high school and into the life Bob follows, all the while searching to reclaim his first love. In doing so he soon find that the reality of a fantasy can be far from the fairy tale imagined, a lesson that we all have to learn at some point in our life. I don't want to say too much for fear of ruining the ending. There is a lot of worth in this story for everyone from the teenager first exploring love to those who have suffered from its flames. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to anyone with a desire to examine love and the powerful impact it can have on our lives. That's not to say that the book doesn't have any issues, it does. From time to time the author will jump through time and this can be a bit disorienting. On a few occasions thoughts are repeated. The formatting could use a little tweaking but there is nothing terribly problematic. Even with these flaws I still feel that this is a worthy read. Gloomwing Review by David W.
